Monday Made It and All Sorts of Fun!

Hello, happy Wednesday!

I am linking up today with Tara at 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made It.  Yes, it's Wednesday, but I just couldn't get it together this week.  So Wednesday it is!

First for the food.  I made quite a few things of note over the last month, but I think this was my favorite.

Shrimp Three Ways...yummm!
On your left is coconut shrimp from Bobby Deen. In the middle is roasted shrimp cocktail from Ina Garten. On the right is grilled shrimp with creamy ginger dressing from Melissa at I Was Born to Cook. We had a great shrimp tasting dinner, and tried to decide which version we liked the best.  Can you guess?  Also, if you like to cook (or eat) check out the page at the top called Everyone deServes to Eat for more of my favorite cooking blogs.

Next up is something my students made, still food-related.
Proper Noun Pizzas! How cute!

This was a great activity, and I can re-use it for plural nouns, possessive nouns, verbs, anything! And, it was free! Go check it out.

I didn't exactly make this, but I laminated it and cut it out.  That counts, according to Tara! Kristen at Ladybug's Teacher Files makes such cute products, that I could not wait for my old alphabet to fall down so I could put this one up!

Next, I made my 8th graders watch this over and over again (just kidding- like, two times) to build background about fossils, which is our topic for this week's OEQ.  Warning: this song is catchy.

Almost done- two more! Jeez Louise I was busy.

My students made the Remixed Hearts from my Bushel and a Peck Craftivity, singing the song the whole time.  Seriously, they were the cutest things- they loved the remix concept.  "I love you an iPad and an iPod, a table and a tomato" were just two of the renditions I heard this week. We're not done with all of our hearts, but I wanted to show you what our work in progress looks like.

And for my final act, I made a community-building activity inspired by this activity from my friend Halle Across the Hall in 2nd Grade.  She has the cutest ideas and her products are always amazing, not to mention I am constantly in awe of her classroom management.  My students had asked me to write special Valentines, so I thought a Secret Valentine swap would be a great way to do it.  I created My Secret Valentine, which you can pick up at my TPT store.

Here's a look at what's included.  I'm really excited to teach my students about addressing and mailing a letter.  Some of them don't know their addresses and I'm almost certain that NONE of them have received a letter in the mail before, so we are going to do it right!  We'll send the letters from school to school, so hopefully they come back within one day.

I think that's it for today! I'll send My Secret Valentine to the first person who can guess what my favorite kind of shrimp was- just remember to comment with your email.

  2. That shrimp looks delicious. I am going to guess the ginger shrimp? Mainly because it looks fantastic. That Valentine's letter activity looks like a lot of fun!
